Halloween is a big deal in my physical therapy program, so we’re doing a potluck lunch (although I’m too cheap to pay to eat/cook food for 80 people), and we’re all dressing up. We sit in rows of 4 in class, so 3 of our rows of girls are all dressing up like crayons. I’m busting out my red unitard from 80s jazz day in undergrad and spray painted the crayola logo on a tube top to put on over it. All of the costumes turned out really well. I’m excited!
And tonight I’m going back to my hometown to see a midnight showing of Rocky Horror. Yes please!
So I didn’t get everything accomplished I wanted to this weekend (although I still have 12 hours to do so). But, I did make an awesome playlist for my 5k in two weeks…I tried to find songs that were 100ish bpm, which works out to about a 5.5 running speed in treadmill pacing. I figured that’s a good consistent pace for my first 5k. I’m still narrowing down songs, because I have 1.3 hours of music and only need like 45 minutes (a little extra time than necessary in case I walk part of it).
I went to the first ever Broadway in Chicago sidewalk sale (the closest thing Chicago will ever have to the Broadway Flea Market). It was epic. They were opening a new theater at Water Tower Place, and so they did some preview performances with the cast. I wasn’t planning on buying anything at the sale because I figured it’d be expensive….for the most part, everything was under $15 (some autographed posters were expensive).
Anyway, I saw this and HAD to have it. Only $15. It is leaning on my dresser (the white thing behind it)…this poster is a good 4 feet tall. And it’s on foamcore board so it’s solid. I had to con my brother into driving to the theater and then to my apartment so I could transport it in the rain. No idea what I’m going to do with it.
I also got this normal sized Lion King poster ($10) and a huge (45”x35”) Movin’ Out lightboard poster (it’s all rolled up so no photo today).
Even though all my exams are over, I’m far from being done with work. But, at least it’ll be a little less stressful than last weekend = big plans. But, my big plans are for taking me time. I need to relax and do something for myself.
Today I’m going downtown for a new theater opening/previews of upcoming shows/charity sale, then a little shopping, helping out with that ballet class for kids with cerebral palsy, and then I’m not sure. I’m definitely going to make a big thing of homemade lentil soup tonight, which I’ve never done before so we’ll see how that turns out. I’m also going to catch up on more TV, do my nails, and of course get some classwork done at some point. Tomorrow I need to go grocery shopping though horribly.
3 exams this week (2 of which were today), and several assignments/papers/projects. I started drinking at 12:30 when test #2 was done…3 beers in 45 minutes, and then sat through a 2 hour physiology lecture (as did the other 40 students who went out to drink during lunch lol).
Anyway, tonight I’m laying low because I’m exhausted, and taking the opportunity to catch up on everything I couldn’t do this week - watch TV, check Tumblr, relax, etc. If anyone would like to welcome me back to the world of Tumblr with some FMKs, questions, etc., please see my ask box :)
After a 2.5 hour anatomy study group, I find an email from my academic advisor and the coordinator of the physiology course informing me of my “less than optimal” performance on the physiology test on Monday….65%. It was actually better than I thought I did because I left the only essay question completely blank. In my defense though, I have been studying for anatomy instead because I need to do better on that exam (even with the failure I still have a 76% in the class). The sad thing is though, I could have studied for it for another 2 days and probably wouldn’t have done much better.
I know I should be pissed, and I kind of am, but I also feel like I have arrived. I failed my first PT/grad school exam.
It’s already 8pm and I still have so much to do. Today was the longest freaking day ever - 4 hours of lecture in the morning, lunch, 4 hours of anatomy (including a 3 hour palpation lab), and then the second year PT students gave us a mock practical exam to prep for our real exam on Friday, so that took about 90 minutes in the cadaver lab. ugh.
I met Kate Walsh this morning, so that’s one more I can cross off my list of people I want to meet :) She’s super sweet, insanely tall (especially in 3 inch Louboutin’s) and just as gorgeous in person as she is on TV. And very down to earth, and a great arts advocate.
waiting for my roommate and her friends who are over to go out so I can get some studying done/get some sleep. And I have an exciting, albeit early day tomorrow…working a [celebrity] VIP brunch downtown and have to be there pretty early.
I’ve probably already reblogged it, but it’s totally true and I will always reblog. Twizzlers get me through life. I bought a 5 pound tub freshman year of college, and will buy one again as soon as I find one in the store.
I was a medical volunteer at the marathon today and it was an awesome experience. I saw the first male and female finisher cross the line, and helped a few injured runners. Not sure if I’ll do it again next year or not (it was a long day. I’ve been up since 3am and probably walked 15 miles during the day), but I’m glad I did it this year. And I got a sweet Nike jacket.
